Human Rights House Zagreb is organizing its Annual Human Rights Conference, from April 27 to April 29, 2022. We invite you to join us LIVE on the first day of the conference which is held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Novinarski dom, Perkovčeva ul. 2, starting at 10 am. The conference will be broadcast live on social networks of the Human Rights House: https://www.facebook.com/kucaljudskihprava and via Zoom link.
The conference will present the annual report “Human Rights in Croatia: Overview of 2021” which provides an overview of the most important issues, challenges and open issues that negatively affected the protection and promotion of human rights in Croatia last year.
As part of the first day, two panel discussions will be held. In the first panel “Review and Discussion on the Situation of Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Croatia”, participants will be: Tena Šimonović Einwalter, Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia, Đurđica Klancir, journalist, Ivan Blažević, Solidarna Foundation – Foundation for Human Rights and Solidarity, and Ivan Novosel, Director of programs of the Human Rights House Zagreb. The discussion is moderated by Ana Krolo Molnar, journalist. The second panel discussion “Suppression of the spread of fake news” will bring together Stanislav Bender from the Agency for Electronic Media, Dražen Hoffman from Gong and Viktorija Car and Milica Vučković from the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb. The second day of the conference will take place online, on Thursday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with two panel discussions on human rights in war-torn Ukraine. Maria Kurinna (Human Rights Center – ZMINA, member of Human Rights House Crimea and Human Rights House Chernihiv), Dave Elseroad (Human Rights House Foundation), Gunnar Ekeløve-Slydal (Norwegian Helsinki Committee) and Nikola Mokrović (Documenta – Center for Dealing with the Past) will talk about the responsibility for violations of human rights and humanitarian law in Ukraine, while Tea Vidović (Center for Peace Studies), Josephine Liebl (European Council on Refugees and Exiles) Anikó Bakonyi (Hungarian Helsinki Committee) and Andrey Ostrikov (Vostok SOS, Ukraine) will discuss the humanitarian aspects of the war in Ukraine.
The third day of the conference will take place on Friday, April 29, LIVE at the Human Rights House Zagreb, at Selska cesta 112c, starting at 11 a.m. In addition to live activities, there will be a video broadcast where you can watch the panel “Socio-economic rights in Croatia and the fight against poverty and social exclusion”, which will be discussed by Olja Družić Ljubotina (Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb), Tina Đaković (Human Rights House Zagreb), Nikola Tadić (Association of Croatian Autism Associations – SUZAH) and Valentina Zeljak Božović (Rehabilitation Center for Stress and Trauma Zagreb)
